So I've been quite the absent blogger as of late, but I'm back. We've had a busy month and many new projects. The most recent was the Analog/Digital group show we took part in. The opening was a lot fun and I want to thank everyone who came out. In the meantime we're working on the new tshirt line and I am re-working the new bag line. To see what we've been up to and for pictures of the show check out our flickr.

Magic City

Here are a a few pieces currently showing at Buck 15 in the 'Magic City' show. I apologize for the blurry photos, I was kinda rushed to take photos before dropping them off. They are gouache on paper and they are pretty small. The portraits are about 2"x3".
By the way, I have two new bags in the works. This time the colors are red, burgundy and neutrals. I'll be posting some pictures later on.

Ending Blog Silence

2007 was the year of awesome Etsy finds. We took the handmade pledge and ended up with some pretty unique gifts for each other. For a full list of stores click on the picture.

I'm very excited about the new bags. I've designed new patterns and I will be posting pictures and updates here. I've started printing on American Apparel totes which are already in our store. In future posts I will include more specific information about bag updates and listing dates. Here are the first two bags just listed last night.

Along with bags, we've added some new shirt colors, styles and designs. We also have a couple of non-Etsy projects in the works, more on that later. Just a quick update for now, back to work I go.

What am I?

I'm a building! This is our entry for the Etsy Costume contest, we call it Hotel Hell. We had a lot of fun coming up with this one. It was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's 'Rear Window'. Here's the list of characters currently residing at Hotel Hell(from left to right, top to bottom): axe murderer, Creature from the Black Lagoon having a cup of tea, tentacles, Mr. Boo dressed up as a business man for Halloween, the twins from 'The Shining', the headless horseman, Wolfman, a large reptilian eye, Mr. Bones reading 'The Spooky Times and Mrs. Bates. For a close-up of the windows go here.

Free Show!

Raffa & Rainer are a local musical duo who play stripped down folky music with cute heartfelt lyrics. I first heard them playing live on NPR over a month ago. Surprised to find out that they were local, I was hoping I would get to see them play live. Unfortunately though they play often, they play at clubs that are a bit too far for me. I'm always so busy that I can rarely venture out to that part of Miami.
Earlier this week I heard that Raffa & Rainer were going to play at our local Wild Oats market and it was free! So I figure I can do my shopping and see them play. They sounded really good despite the typical supermarket noises. It really made my week:) For a sample of their music, check them out at: http://www.myspace.com/raffaandrainer

Flonkerton

So much has happened I hardly know where to begin. I guess the most important thing is our new print shop. It now houses all of our printing and packing supplies and doubles. It has freed up our previous print shop for everything else we do, namely draw, sew, pack orders and scrabble. This has actually increased productivity so we get to focus on new designs and a new look for our site. In last few weeks we've added 4 new designs, more ladies shirts, a new Tdress and my favorite, organic kids tees. Who knew that humans came that tiny.
On the handbag front, I finally broke radio silence with this bag. This is the first in a series of larger bags with our new prints and some free-form machine sewing. I'm really enjoying these new bag designs. These bags will be more one-of-kind and I will only duplicate them upon request. Once I have enough bags I'll be opening an Etsy store just for bags.

And now for something completely different. I absolutely love bread especially the fresh-baked-right-out-of-the-oven kind. Today I made my first real loaf of bread and I am so proud of it I just had to share it.
